In doing so they get to hone their interpersonal skills and learn how to develop other people. This quality is key for managers who support their team, reward good behaviour but also crack down on bad, set objectives or schedules and make sure they are implemented, be friendly and open to discussion but also able to set limits.


Being a parent involves a lot of anticipation in order to understand what needs to be done and how it is going to get done. A family day out with the children, for example, will need to be efficiently planned. Getting ready for the different weather possibilities, sorting through the different lunch options, what the budget is for the day, when you need to be home for, if any of the children have an important assignment to prepare for the next day. When you write down all the details of what mums need to do, in order for the day to run smoothly, it is no wonder that mums are finely-tuned planning machines. Being great at this is a highly desirable trait within the office as being able to think ahead effectively and plan the details enables mums to bring a strong focus to project and business management.
