Developed to support the special needs* of women who are planning to become pregnant or are in early pregnancy, as a complement to a healthy diet.
It pays to take care of your nutrition before you are pregnant, in order to help your baby have the best possible start in life. In general, it is always important to follow a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, particular care should be taken for this when planning a pregnancy and throughout pregnancy. Pregnant women have increased requirements for some nutrients as they also need to supply their unborn baby during this period. Particular care should be taken to ensure an adequate supply of folate*.

Femibion 1 contains a combination of well chosen nutrients, including most importantly a folate-mix (Metafolin ® & folic acid)*, developed especially for the planning phase and the 1st trimester of pregnancy.

IODINE

Femibion 1 Planning & Pregnancy

By week 13 the baby's vital organs are already formed and now the baby starts an enormous growth phase.

That’s why we recommend you to now switch to Femibion 2 Pregnancy + Breastfeeding.

In addition to the carefully chosen nutrients of Femibion 1 it supports you also with DHA, a polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acid. Maternal omega-3 DHA intake contributes to the normal development of the brain and eyes of the foetus and breastfed infant.

These Femibion products are food supplements which should be used as complement, not as a substitute, to a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

*Folate (folic acid and Metafolin®) contributes to normal blood formation and the process of cell division, as well as maternal tissue growth during pregnancy, including the formation of the placenta. The placenta supplies your unborn baby with essential nutrients the baby needs.

Supplemental folic acid intake increases maternal folate level. Low maternal folate level is one of the risk factors in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus. Therefore it is recommended that women should take 400 μg supplemental folic acid daily over a period of at least one month before and up to three months after conception. The association between low maternal folate status as an important risk factor for neural tube defects has been scientifically proven. There are further risk factors, therefore altering one of the factors might not in each case have a beneficial effect.
