Does being a mum mean my style will change?

While there’s no reason you have to totally say goodbye to your pre-pregnancy style, it’s likely that leggings and many of the other stretchy clothes you wore when pregnant will still be your best friends for a while definitely under Manto coupled with a nice scarf or Chador. Unless you’re an A-list celebrity, it could take the best part of a year for you to lose most of your baby weight, so don’t expect to be back in high heels and skinny jeans immediately

How much your day-to-day style changes will depend on your pre-pregnancy style.

Even if you go back to work, you’ll probably want to adapt your look for hanging out with your baby and other mums. This is partly for practical considerations – high heels look weird in the park and dry-clean-only mantos don’t mix well with new babies – but also because you’ll probably have less time to spend on your appearance.

Style strategies for new mums

  • Ask your hairdresser for ways to adapt your current look so it’s easier to manage. Pamper yourself before your due date with a nice cut , nice color change !
  • Consider getting your eyebrows and eyelashes dyed when you have your hair done to reduce make-up time.
  • Try shapewear to help you get into your pre-pregnancy clothes.
    • Make sure clothes you wear with your little one around are machine washable and go for patterned dresses or Manto which help disguise stains
    • Choose mantos , long shirts and dresses that drape away from your tummy and team with fitted trousers or leggings to avoid a big-all-over look.
    • Use accessories such as earrings, a chunky necklace or scarf to draw attention away from the bits you don’t want to highlight.
