Femibion® 1 Healthy Pregnancy provides you with the following nutrients:
FOLIC ACID | a B vitamin that in the body is converted into folate to become biologically active. The human body needs folate, which contributes to normal blood formation, cell division and thus tissue growth. However, not all women are able to completely utilise folic acid. |
METAFOLIN® | a special form of folate developed and patented by Merck that does not have to be converted in the body but is available directly. Metafolin® is a registered trademark of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. |
VITAMIN B1, VITAMIN B2 and BIOTIN | contribute to maintaining normal energy-yielding metabolism and normal functioning of the nervous system. |
VITAMIN B6, VITAMIN B12 NIACIN and PANTOTHENIC ACID | help to reduce tiredness and fatigue. |
VITAMIN C | supports normal functioning of the immune system. |
VITAMIN E | helps protecting the cells from oxidative stress. |

Femibion® 2 Pregnancy & Lactation
By week 13 the baby's vital organs are already formed and now the baby starts an enormous growth phase.
That’s why we recommend you to now switch to Femibion® 2 Pregnancy + Lactation.
In addition to the carefully chosen nutrients of Femibion® 1 Healthy Pregnancy it supports you also with DHA, a polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acid. Maternal omega-3 DHA intake contributes to the normal development of the brain and eyes of the foetus and breastfed infant.
These Femibion products are food supplements which should be used as complement, not as a substitute, to a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
*Folate (folic acid and Metafolin®) contributes to normal blood formation and the process of cell division, as well as maternal tissue growth during pregnancy, including the formation of the placenta. The placenta supplies your unborn baby with essential nutrients the baby needs.
Supplemental folic acid intake increases maternal folate level. Low maternal folate level is one of the risk factors in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus. Therefore it is recommended that women should take 400 μg supplemental folic acid daily over a period of at least one month before and up to three months after conception. The association between low maternal folate status as an important risk factor for neural tube defects has been scientifically proven. There are further risk factors, therefore altering one of the factors might not in each case have a beneficial effect.
